… German for card catalog. Also a system for using notes (externalized thoughts) for generating mental models. This is what I’m exploring as a method of note taking while reading. This zettelkasten is a newish movement centered around the amazing systems thinker and social scientist Niklas Luhmann.
“I cannot remember the books I have read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson — I can’t but help think this can’t be helped with better recall. Note taking and zettelkasten are my attempt. Emerson seems to be admitting some kind of failure to grab opportunities found in books.
I’m interested in what your thinking, agreeing with me or not. Continue the conversation anytime: will@kestrelcreek.com.
